Our Bucks

The Nigerian Dwarf (ND) bucks ideal height is 19” and maximum height at the withers is 23.6”. Ideal weight is 75 lbs. A common question is: what is the difference between ND and Pygmy’s? They do have similar origin but are distinct breeds. Pygmy’s are bred to be “cobby” and heavy boned. ND are bred to have length of body and structure in proportion of a dairy goat. ND can breed year round (they don’t just have a rut in the fall). It’s a precocious breed. Young stock may breed from an early age:males as early as 3 months, females from 7-8 months. Gestation ranges from 145-153 days. The Nigerian Dwarf goats are bred for show, milk production as well as companions. Bucks generally don’t make good pets due to their very strong and distinct aroma (that is perfume to the does but not so much to humans). But bucks can be wethered (castrated) and make the best pets (no smell, no going into heat, etc.).

Our bucks are all ADGA registered.
