The Nigerian Dwarf goat is known both for their milk production as well as their ability to be companion animals. They were brought to the United States in the 1950’s. They are known for their even tempers and gentle playful personalities. Given these characteristics and their smaller size compared with their standard size goat counterparts they have become very popular to first-time showers in 4-h or FFA clubs as well as for families that are interested in pets.
Does stand between 16 and 21 in tall at the withers and bucks can grow to be 23.5 in. tall. They generally stay between 60-80 lbs on average. They come in a variety of colors. We here at Trillium Way Farm use our does milk for all our dairy products including sour cream, yogurt, cheese, ice cream, half and half for our coffee, etc. My girls have also showed our goats at the local county fair. Our bucks are used for breeding purposes.
